Story: "I decided in 2002 that I would go deer hunting with my Husband, who is an avid hunter. We own some property in Lewis County and that is where I hunted. My first day, Friday, December 27 we got up early and set up our hunting blind and we sat and sat and sat. All I saw that morning was squirrels. I never saw that first deer. We went in the evening that same day to a different spot, a spot where we had seen several deer the evening before. We again came up empty handed. I didn't even see squirrels this time. Needless to say I was getting very discouraged. Of course my husband kept saying that some people hunt several years before they see or get a deer. I, on the other hand was determined that I would get a deer on my first hunting trip. I decided that I would go back out on Saturday, December 28th. We got up early Saturday morning, sat our blind up once again. I sat down in my chair. I was sitting there less than five minutes and my husband says here's one coming across the River. I look up and there is a nice buck crossing the river to my right. I stand up, position my gun and watch him cross the River. My husband is saying shoot, shoot. My heart is pumping, I feel like it is going to jump out of my chest at any time and I keep saying, but he is moving. Finally, he gets to the bank. I can't see him for a few minutes because he is blending in with the landscape. I get him in sight again and I shoot. He falls and I am very excited. We wait a few minutes because he is lying at the edge of the River with his head up. He then lies down and we go over to see what I got. I shot a nine Point. My husband was a little sick about that because it was bigger then any he had shot before and he has been hunting for years. He knew that he would catch a little grief about this!"
