Story: "My son Shaun got another nice buck in the 2003 season. A near perfect 8 point. He scouted one day and let the area rest. On the third day it was rainy and foggy as he climbed the hill to his chosen spot. Shaun is one devoted hunter and is first there and last to leave. Well on this day I needed to get some work done so he went by himself. We have been hunting partners almost since he was born. I used to carry him to my blind when he was just a baby and he was like a sponge, learning everything and quickly. On this day, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2003, Shaun saw something moving up through some pines on the east side of a field. The rain was light but it was overcast and foggy so visibility was low and he wasn't sure if it was a buck or doe, but he kept watching. As the deer approached the clearing of the field he could see it was a buck. As the buck came into the field it slowly walked over by a small pond and then decided to cut across the field. Bad choice. Shaun dropped him with one well placed shot from his rifle. The shot was walked off at about 100 yards. I later killed a small 6 point so once again the freezer was filled with plenty of good old Tennessee backstraps!"
