Story: Scott of Naples, FL shot this fine 8 Point over in Hardeman County as it followed 6 Does.
The buck saw me move and bounded away and stopped right on the edge of a thicket. The only way I could get the crosshairs on him was to lean out in order to see around a cedar tree. Even then I had to put the butt of my rifle above my shoulder in order to get him in my scope. The buck was about to get away and I knew that if I shot, the scope would definitely hit me in the head on the recoil. I had to make a decision and I chose to take the shot and risk having my head cut open. Just as I had suspected, the recoil caused the scope to put a gash right between my eyes. When I got down from the tree, I wasn't sure if I'd hit the deer or not. The only blood I found was the blood dripping off my nose onto the ground. I walked in the direction the deer ran and he was piled up in a heap about 50 yards from where I shot him. It was worth the pain.
