Story: "I'm from Knoxville and make the 5 hour trip west many weekends each fall. It was the final morning I had to hunt before having to drive back home for classes at UT. I was hunting the edge of a pasture where it forms a bit of a funnel and runs alongside long strip of thicket that three years ago was a clear cut. I wasn't expecting too much because I had seen numerous rubs in the thicket which all looked to belong to young deer. A small buck trotted through early but I passed because I am through killing young bucks. I was about ready to get down when I heard two gunshots very close to me on the adjacent property. Moments later a doe came charging through, followed by this big guy who seemed little concerned that he had just been shot at. Lucky for me, the other guy couldn't get him to stop and missed. He made the mistake of stopping about 80 yards out to watch what the doe was going to do and I let him have it. We hunt that stand a lot, but I don't know if anyone had seen this deer before."
