Story: About 9:15am, tired of sitting in the tree stand, I was about to get down, one more grunt or two on the grunt call and I was calling it quits for the morning stand hunt. All of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed him...coming toward me, out in the small field to my right. Been hunting 20 plus yrs and still got that slight case of buck fever...calming myself, just as he stepped behind a small branch of oak leaves. All I could see was his rack....one soft grunt on the call and he stepped forward. I have never taken such a frontal shot.. but could not let this deer go. My 30.30 was sighted in perfect at 150 yds, yet he was only maybe 75yd. from me. One shot was all I had. I took it. He left no blood trail and went galloping back the way he had came. I thought I had missed. Found him 100 yds later. What a sight. My biggest racked deer
