Story: I set up in a grove of chinquapin oaks about 1:00 PM Sunday 92699 and settled in to wait. I had found a good signpost rub a couple of days before which had really been worked over good about 100 yds. from the oaks. About 5:30 a small 8-point came in and started cracking acorns. He had a nicely formed rack but was small so I decided to pass. About 6:00 the small buck turned and looked up the spine of the ridge he had come down earlier. He wheezed twice and about a minute later I saw this buck coming through the woods. He and the smaller buck had been eating acorns for about 20 minutes when he finally offered a good broadside shot at 25 yards. I hit the front of both lungs and the buck crashed within sight about 50 yards away. I would bet my tree stand that I let this buck walk sometime in the past year or two.
