Story: I shot this big 8 pointer on opening day of rifle season. I had got a few pictures of the deer during the summer on a salt lick when he was first developing his horns. I didn't hunt the place any, because there wasn't any sign at the spot. Then thursday before rifle season opened while me and buddy was scouting. I found probably 10 scrapes through a gap and down a ridge behind my stand. Early that morning I had herd deer twice. Then after talking to my buddy around 8:30 there was 5 does came running up into the gap with him right behind them. I shot him while he was in the gap, then he ran down in hollar and laid down and I shot him again just to be safe. Like my dad told me once bullets are cheap, big deer don't come easy. The deer wasn't real wide but he had mass. He was 4 1/2 at the base and 4 above the eye guard. He scored 118 and field dressed 146 pounds.
