Story: I've hunted 135.25 hours since opening day of bow season, with most of that hunting taking place during muzzleloader. I originally wanted something 130" or better but after hunting my hind end off I still hadn't glimpsed a buck close to that big or even sign from something of that caliber. The Breeding period started off strong in my area but then just seemed to tail-off. Whether it was taking place at night or I just wasn't seeing it, the rut was weaker than normal in my area. After passing up a couple deer of this class, I said a special prayer Sunday morning that something would happen. Earlier in the season I had found a decent rub-line entering a big cornfield. Knowing that a fairly nice buck had been coming to this field on a semi-regular basis, I decided to hunt that field Sunday afternoon. At 4:10 he came out with a Doe, they were about 450 yards away. They had been slowly making their way closer to me, and after what seemed like an eternity, they were more than close enough and I took the deer. He wasn't a 130 or 140 like I was wanting this year, but that's why deer of that class are such trophies...they don't come along every year. I feel very blessed to have killed this 4 1/2 year old trophy. He weighed 152lbs field-dressed. By-far nowhere close to any of my top-scoring deer but he was a gift from God nonetheless. This year was a tough year...lots of people trespassing, more than usual hunting pressure on surrounding farms, and a visibly weak rut; So I feel satisfied and grateful with such a buck. Thank you God, and Happy Hunting to everyone
