Who would you say is the most overrated football coach in the SEC?

To me, it could be Les Miles. Great guy who cracks me up but really hasn't lived up to hype or expectations since beating a bad Ohio State team in the BCS n/c, a game the Buckeyes really had no right to be in. Could be Steve Spurrier. Again, he's great and all but not as good of a coach as many think. Just ask any Redskins fan or player who played for him.

To me it is Mark Richt. That guy always seems to have a stacked team, always top 10 recruiting class, but can never win the big one. He's the John Cooper of the SEC.

Well I have to agree with you here.Mark is a great guy and Christian. He was the same at FSU ,just never could get over that last hurdle.

I'm a DAWGS fan and hate to agree, but I almost have to. Richt is one of the reasons that I am a fan, but he is known for 1-2 brain farts that cost games each season. He averages 10 wins per season, though, and he is not scared to discipline or kick off players when they get in trouble, so he will always be at a competitive disadvantage with some rival schools who always pick up the players that he kicks off. He makes it frustrating to be a DAWGS fan, but I will take really good with integrity any day, as there are only so many truly GREAT coaches in college football.

Agree.

Richt isn't overrated anymore. He is the skinny Fulmer. Spurrier has be at the top of the list. He should have won the east prob 2 or 3 times the past few years with uf and tn being down but hasn't been able to do it.

Richt is a good guy from all accounts, but the bulk of the discipline he is credited with is actually university policy, not a personal decision. This was brought up early in his tenure at Georgia when someone got the boot. Not a bad policy at all.

well......its definitely the most hyped I've ever seen a 28-34 team. I'm still not sold. the question with jones is
1. can he win more games than the ones he should?
2. can he win without selling a "new" program?
3. can he win without the "young" players? its easy getting freshman jacked up and playing over their head. can he do that with jr/sr?

15 and 16 will tell

That isn't a bad pick. He has definitely had some talented teams, ala LSU. However, with the competition in the west, it's hard to pin that on them.

Wow. GnB made another ludicrous negative post about UT. Someone alert the media. Never saw that one coming. :bore:

I'll go with Richt or Miles. I like them both but they probably should've done more with the talent they get.

Nope... Since he is only 12-13, that's my pick. All the other coaches mention have winning records. :tu:

There isn't a coach in the country that could do better with the roster and the schedule that Tennessee has had!! And he has beat Spurrier twice, and with all the negativitey has brought in some of the best recruits. I thought you knew more about football than that

I do know more because only "W" is what counts. All the recruiting and being a media darling doesn't win games. Ron Zook comes to mind. Back to 12-13.... :tu:

Is the question what coach has won the fewest games? or what coach is the most overrated?

You do know there is a difference, we have been rebuilding. You can't expect an immediate turn around. If you are going from that then would it be vandy coach? He has the worst winning percentage but he is at vandy and trying to build.

I would say it is miles or if you go on gnb's thinking then it would be dr. Pepper. He hasn't won a game in the sec yet. What's his quality win so far?

Really???

No other coach in the country would have won the florida game? Or the Georgia game? Or beat vanderbilt like a drum with Tennessee's roster?

So Butch is as least as good as the best coaches in the country?
