What kind of batteries do you guys use in you cameras. Also has anyone tried the rechargeable lithium.
 
I use regular Duracell but plan to switch to lithium this summer....more cost up front....but from what I read on here it will save money in the long run.....main thing is I can't stand walking up on a dead camera after waiting weeks to check it.
 
I watched a few different guys run tests on some of the rechargeable batteries. The ones that held up the best aren't name brands. I bought some and put them out three weeks ago but i haven't checked them since. I did notice they were reading in the 80% range on my trail cams at full charge. Regular batteries show 100%. I figured if i get a few charges out of them i come out ahead. I bought 36 AA's and a charger for about $60. EBL 2800 was the ones i bought.
 
Get best performance here from the standard energizers. Too many times to count with duracell's only to have a dead camera that showed 85+ percent battery life the week prior.

Used tennergy 2800 mah rechargeables in my homebrews when I was still running them.
 
Unless they are different than they used to be, fully charged rechargeable batteries will read about 1.3 volts on a volt meter whereas brand new AA batteries will read 1.5-1.6V out of the package...that's why fully charged rechargeable batteries sometimes show as 85-90% in our cameras.
 
I currently use Energizer Lithium. They cost more but seem to last "forever".
I run Spypoint cameras about 6 months a year, plus around the house on occasion. I have not replaced batteries since the beginning of the 2018 hunting season.
I tried the rechargable Energizers 4-5 years ago. My experience was they were good after the initial charge, but all subsequent charges they lost more and more power. I tried all the "refurbishment" techniques I could find online, but none worked.

I used to run 20 cameras on my place. I think I spooked more deer, stunk up my place, tweaked, lost more sleep, got distracted (cell cameras!!), and spent more money on batteries than u could imagine. I did not use them this year and had more enjoyment hunting than I can remember. I've gotten back to hunting like I used to before cameras. I can 100% see why people use them though. It was so cool to have a buck I had never seen walk by me. I even saw more deer........ to answer your question, I have tried the rechargeable ones and they worked ok. Big hassle if you have more than a couple cameras though.
 
I use AA Lithium's with a 12V back up. Typically lasts from June-Jan, unless I have an excessive amount of tree rats, turkeys, trespassers and leaves blowing in the wind - resulting in lots of pics.

Always energizer lithium. I usually get a season and a half out of them.

I pull all batteries from the cameras at the end of the season and keep sorted. I put brand new batteries in the cell cams and cams I won't check but every 6 weeks or longer (in TN). I put the used ones back into the cameras I check every couple weeks. That way, if they die, I dont miss much, yet still get my full moneys worth out of them.
 
I say and will say it again do not waste time or money on the rechargeable batteries, or at least every one I have tried even the energizers after first charge they are crap! Also I have read not to mix the lithium and regular batteries it does something to one or the other,not sure which way or what. I like the Engergizer lithium or the max have good results out of both, and have had good results.
