How has your season been so far?

Best Season in years for me.
Have you been successful? Yes -Have 3 tags filled
Accomplished any personal goals? Yes - Learning to call better and working on set ups more
Hunted as much as desired? Never, though I hunt quite a lot, my work allows me to come in late every morning, I have not hunted only 1 day since opening
Had any blown opportunities? Too many to count, Ive killed 3, missed shots on 3 and called 18+ to under 100 yds. walking out last Monday to beat the storm had one gobbling his head off 100 yds from the truck. Manuevered to 51 steps from him, busting his hens off when I did. Thinking he was farther out, Tried to get closer, bad idea..lol Should have just set tight..

Learned something new? Always seem to be learning new things, though never at the pace Id like to..

Put tags on 3 I have never limited before...I'd like to but as for right now if it were to close tomorrow I have had a blessed season.

Going to spend the last 5 days of the season taking a Wounded Veteran from Michigan so I would say it will end in pretty awesome fashion wether we get a bird or not.

I have had a enjoyable season,I enjoy the woods whether I kill a turkey or not!I missed a gobbler but ended with me killing 4 gobblers.I love watching the wildlife, saw several deer,a coyote and a wild hog but didnt shoot any of those, looking forward to next year and hope everyone has had lots of fun this season.Good luck to those that are still hunting!

These two calls have been my work horses this spring: Dawkin's stoned aluminum and Ghost Maker bronzed glass 2 sider. I've already ordered another Ghost Maker in crystal. I can't believe I haven't hunted with a 2 sider more than I have. These two calls are all I need (plus a mouth call).

Did something this morning I didn't think was possible for me. Struck a bird a little after fly down and after an hour of repositioning and seducing him had him in full strut at 25 yards. Watching him in the knee deep may apples with the sun peaking through the mountain I decided to not fill my last tag on him and just watch/enjoy. In 20+ years of waging this war on turkeys I had never let a legal bird I called in walk other then jakes but just wasn't that angry with them this morning. Maybe tomorrow I'll be angry again :)

Very cool. That takes some restraint and much respect for the game you pursue. Hats off to you.
I done that last year myself in a similar situation. Had one at 40 could have killed him but I wanted him at 30 or under. I just watched him and enjoyed him. I'll never forget him.

Congratulations.
I suspect you will do this again, many times.
Really no different than deciding NOT to shoot a particular buck.
ENJOY your HUNTING. :)

Best to not make a habit of that. Once in a while out of respect, maybe, but "softness" can lead to a "killer" loosing their edge :D

Haha, that's verbatim what several buddies told me. The battle resumes tomorrow, and I'll be back to normal :D

It was cool to watch today, and no regrets

Hunted 2.5 days...all I could muster w/ work/family. Saw 12 gobblers....killed one. First spring mountain hunt...10" beard and 1" spurs. It will be a memorable hunt...I learned a lot.
