I was guessing 3 y/o.. You think hes 4 with that small of a rack?
Not Dandy Andy here, but he'll tell you the same thing:
Ignore the rack (for the most part) when aging adult bucks.

Those antlers appear somewhere near average for a 4 1/2 yr old buck, maybe even above average for 3 1/2.
Near annually, I see 4 1/2-yr-old TN bucks with racks smaller than that one, and 2 1/2-yr-old TN bucks with racks larger than that one.

That single pic isn't worth much for summer aging (not meant to be derogatory), but my best guess would be 3 1/2 or older on this buck until more pics are seen. :)

3.5 or 4.5, but my money is on 4.5.
My money says you'll revise that to 3 .5 after we see more pics. :tu:

In the summer, you can typically make your best guess and add a year to it and be very close, if not dead on.
Agree, especially when there is limited pic data.

Having been fooled many times by very healthy (and well fed) 2 1/2's appearing as 3 1/2's (and 3 1/2's appearing as 4 1/2's) during the summer months, I would add that very well fed 2 1/2's & 3 1/2's often appear a year older than their real age.
