Shortest shot on a turkey

Have you ever tried to fan one in. They can get close if you let em. DON'T try it on public land. I missed in the 2016 season by fanning because I didn't see him until he was about 3 yards away in the talk grass. And I was shooting with one hand on the gun, and the other hand was holding the tail fan. I went back that evening and got on the same bird and fanned him in again but didn't miss that time.

Fanned several in, been doing in for years. I don't do it much anymore, I'd rather call him to my gun.

Yea, I mainly like to use it if the gobblers are with a big flock of hens. Cause it can be hard to call em away from the flock, especially early season. But most of the time I do like to just call em in to where I'm sitting.

Had one pretty much at the end of my barrel. Had heard one sat down and stared calling then heard one behind me and closer. was trying to get around and sat up for that one when I looked back and had one on top of me. Was able to swing back real easy and take it's head off. I believe it was the third one I had ever killed.

Back during my first or second year of turkey hunting I was at LBL with Wildcat.
We set up and had a hen behind us and a gobbler in front of us (somewhere).
After a while I could hear the bird RUNNING through the woods towards us.
Turned out it was a hen and of course I didn't shoot her but when she came to a stop and was yelping LOUD, I assume looking for the hen that was doing all that yacking, her head was literally 6" from the end of my barrel, right in front of me. :D

Wish it has been the gobbler. LOL
That is the closest I have ever been to one.

Closest kill was probably in the 7 yard range.

1 yard. Lucky to even hit him at that distance, but it looked like setterman's photo except I hit the neck an inch lower. Completely severed the head from the body except for a little skin on one side holding the two together.
