What a wild morning it was today. Started on a massive group of birds that had at least 10 longboards and another half dozen jakes along with who knows how many hens. After an hour on them the hens broke and literally trotted to me, with the gobblers in tow. Problem was they got to me so fast and got so close that I got picked off by a gen at my boot. That spoiled that rendezvous.

Went to an area where another bird had gobbled and as I was easing down anloggong cut the bird cut me off down the mountain. The woods are so open I had no choice but to drop right there and hope for the best. In 5 minutes the bird was under the hill from me at less then 5 yards but a mound of dirt kept me from seeing him. Finally he peeked out and I leveled him at 3 steps.

Here's the graphic photo, my apologies to him as he was gorgeous before my shot

Wow. Congrats.

Looks like a rope on him!

If that happened to me I would get busted making sure it's the gobbler and not a jake that came in with him.

Keep those chins up. I got humbled big time all last week and was pretty discouraged. It can turn in an instant
it turned in an instant here today but it was right at sunset when legal hours closed and the birds flew up shortly after. At least I have one I can chase tomorrow if I want to
