Year to year buck comparison

Had a fantastic surprise last night. The one buck we were missing from last year "Diez" was a nice mid aged 10 point. He came home yesterday before sunset to find his old mineral holes and he has been upgraded to mature in my books and definitely makes the list;

4 1/2 or older (Fall 2017).

Just based on those pics,
about 50/50 on him being 5 1/2.

But you never know for certain unless you've had a way to monitor them since yearlings (or since fawns).

Very doubtful this one could be older than 6 1/2 (imo, unlikely he's 6 /12).
Very likely he is 5 1/2; almost a certainty he is 4 1/2 (or older).
Almost a certainty he is no younger than 4 1/2 (can't be a "certainty" just based on those pics).

But I'm off a year or so all the time :tu:
Even worse at estimating age during summer.

Awesome pics! I think "Sweet" is a safe 4.5 yo buck...

Also a side note to "nemo" and his changing rack from year to year...Bill Winke killed a buck a couple years ago that was a typical on one side and trashy on the other side. In the course of 3 seasons his rack alternated between the left and right side being typical! Guaranteed it was the same deer but the trail cam pics would have told another story altogether...thanks for sharing

"Nemo" has been fun to watch. We intentioanlly let him walk last year, wondering if his rack would correct itself, and it definitely improved but I dont think he is gonna do much better than he is now. He is on the list, and i would love to get my little girl on him. Here is an updated pic of him and his "little" running buddy.

I know its the wrong time to age deer, but thanks for playing!
