Wireless?

Folks seems to have had great luck with the snyper commander camera. I do not own a wireless camera yet but have been researching. Those cams are pretty affordable ($250)

I joined a group on Facebook (cellcam freaks) and have been looking at their pics and reviews

How do you like it so far? I have the moultrie modem and the cheapest cam i could find to go with it. Used all of last season and no complaints so far other than being 2 parts...

I used a Bushnell last year and loved it. I bought two more, and have a lot of fun with them. Here is a sample of a high res pic that I ordered.

couple of questions for a novice trail user/owner ......... first, is this a legitimate web site that reviews trail cams in anyones esteemed opinion?

http://bestreviews.com/best-trail-cameras

Second, and wishing BSK were around to weigh in, he is the guy responsible for putting a lot of dollars into trail cams.......is the new wireless STEALTH CAM product on anyone's rader?

Anyone with experience with the stealth cam product?

Thank you all in advance, just figuring I might be able to save time, money and hassle by learning from somebodys personal experience with them!

Opinions vary.
I place more value in this one,
https://www.trailcampro.com/
and like you wish BSK would come on here and add insult to all of them :tu:

Personally, I am not a big fan of the Stealth line, although they're a reasonable option in their price range, and many people love them.

Not sure if you're asking about cams in general or cellular cams?

If non-cellular, for the approximate price range of Stealth, I prefer the Browning cams.
With cellular, I'm still waiting for more bugs to get worked out before I whole-heartedly jump in.

My initial experiments with cellular have been disappointing, with part of the disappointment being how drastically battery life can be reduced, somewhat negating the purposed advantages of cellular. They are getting those bugs worked out, but as with most other things, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, until you jump over there.

Lbl man,
I don't see how they can solve the battery life on a wireless camera… I consider my iPhone To be a marvel of modern technology but I still have to charge the battery every day.

There are certainly a lot of more choices for wireless this year than in the past… I would expect this market to explode over the next two years.

I use a 12 volt battery and a voltage reducer to make it 6 volts... put the battery in 5 gallon bucket and brush it in. Run the wire through pvc or conduit (so the animals don't chew power wire up) and it lasts all year... No problems

We run 2 of the Bushnell and they are great. I can change any settings from the app on my phone.
We run lithium batteries in them and they will last 6mo or more.

I use the Covert cell cams for the past 4 years and love them. Their customer service is hands down the best ever. I am running 9 currently. Two of which are on their way to a montana river bottom where I will be hunting white tail and antelope in September. These cams save me tons of gas money and I am getting up to 2 months on regular alkaline batteries if the cell service is good. Here is a sample of the pics I have gotten in the past week or so;

I have two Moultrie MV-1 modems, each connected to a Moultrie M888 and have been very pleased with them. Admittedly, my setup looks somewhat like a weather station, but it hasnt affected the deer activity one iota. They ignore it in their quest for the salt lick, I suppose.
Each setup has the Modem, the camera, a 12V battery and a solar panel, all strapped and locked to the tree. They have been out since December, and I have not had to do one thing to them since then. If my card starts getting full, I can delete pics remotely.
Only drawback is that with two modems, one must subscribe to two plans (at least for now). Moultrie told me that they hope to be able to incorporate a shared plan this fall, and they will allow grandfathering. I hope thats true.

Here is a pic of my setup.

I think wireless is the future in trail cams.

Yep, looking and thinking seriously.........................like the move from flip phones to "smart" phones................it is inevitable.

Stopped by Bass Pro in Nashville yesterday to look at cell cams and use my gift card.....most likely on the EVO.
They do not have a single cell cam on display or in stock... other than the moutrie midem. The Nashville store is not quite of the same caliber as Pigeon Forge and the Pyramid.☹️

You can find last year's version of the covert code black on line for a little better than $200. I will pay extra to have the piece of mind I have got with Covert's customer service. The quality of the pics are second to none and the devices have been very reliable. The constantly update the firmware and everytime battery life and pics get better. I would not put any camera on public land or where other folks are unless You buy the bear box and snake lock. I'm running 9 coverts, 7 in ky, and 2 in MT. Ill be sticking a few on my TN property soon..
