Fastest hunt I’ve ever had

I don't normally post kill stuff but this was so absurd I thought it might be of interest and also give hope to any one having a tough season.

This morning I got hosed by a bird early that somehow slipped past me inside 30 yards using an undercut creek bank as cover until he got behind me. Jacka$$ turkeys. Lol

I went on the move after that and got into an area where several birds had gobbled earlier. All was quiet so I decided to do my usual mid morning woods nap with hopes of a bird gobbling within ear shot. I'd been laying there for about 30 minutes (never called) when a crow went off and a bird gobbled several hundred yards behind me. I immediately got up and moved roughly 200 yards his direction. I took a knee under an autumn olive and just listened for a few minutes....silence. We heck I decided let's call. I call and several birds hammer back no less than 100 yards away. I instantly sat down and turned on the fastbfire, when I looked up there theywere three long beards running towards me. I barely had time to raise the gun and fold the lead bird. When I turned my sight on I glanced at my watch as I always do and the elapsed time was 42 seconds from when I struck him to death. Shocking to be honest and I've decided the best way to kil lots of turkeys is to be lucky. Lol

Here is he is, nice bird with 1 2/8 spurs

Congrats! I love the highs and lows of turkey hunting. Some days it's impossible other days the birds are suicidal.

Great beard too!

Bet you've worked those birds earlier in the year and they wouldn't do squat. It's all about their particular mood they are in at the exact time you call. A couple hours before and they prob would have hung up. A couple hours later and they prob wouldn't have even gobbled.

Those suicidal gobblers sure make it fun and a change to the long battles. Congrats!

See it wasn't so hard to post a story and pic. I like seeing them. :poke: :tu:

Very true! That's what makes them so fun to hunt. Every bird is a little different and different from day to day and hour to hour.
