JAY B that is a freak!!! I don't think he's a day over 3yo....my goodness I can only imagine what he could end up as... [emoji33]

3.5yo, just not enough depth of chest to be 4.5.... part of me even thinks hes 2.5

Trigger restraint for sure. That's exactly the type of buck that will make 150 if he can reach maturity

He definitely has features of a 3.5 in some of these pics, but would not be surprised if he filled out like a 4.5 come early November.
Hypothetically, and prob far fetched , but say a 4.5 yr old buck was injured pretty bad last year , could he lose enough muscle and weight to look like this now you think ?

I put a arrow in a est. 4.5 yr old buck last year at this same location during early archery, he survived the shot (somehow) and appeared on camera a month later with an obvious injury on the opposite side I shot him . He had some junk on one of his bases last year and in the back of my mind I wonder if it's possible this is him, this buck is showing up all of the same places he did for the past 3 years ! Here is a pic of the said buck last year , notice the protruding spots near shoulder which is the off side from where arrow went in and broke off.

I just can't see a brisket shrinking on a deer that much even with injury...I mean it's comprised of a lot of bone and cartlidge to give the "depth" of chest. An injury shouldn't change those physical characteristics though it could most definitely effect muscle mass and overall weight.

I'd say that he is a 3.5 but wouldn't be surprised that he is 4.5 . Could be the buck you shot , I've heard an injury would effect the opposite side of their rack and that would correlate maybe evidence to his unusual rack . Maybe not to you but to me I would take him given the chance but knowing without an accident he would be there next year he should have an even larger scoring rack .

Yes, it is possible that an injured older deer will have lost so much muscle mass and body weight that they will appear significantly younger. But almost 10 months later, he should have completely recovered from the wound. I still that that buck is a younger deer.
