After missing last weekend, I caught up to another one. 2 year old that double and triple gobbled a lot. I didn't hear much at all off the roost but this one started up at about 10AM. I was messing around with a gobbler that was off in a no hunting area, getting him to gobble a lot but not moving toward me. Once I started walking away, this one answered me from where I had just been. I closed the gap back as much as I could and set up on him. He came strutting and gobbling to about 40-50 yards but I couldn't see him for quite some time. Some scratching brought him to 30 where I got a shot. GA open public land.

The scratching does make a difference for sure. I have hunted 4 mornings in GA so far. I have heard birds every morning except this morning. Definitely better than private land at home for bird numbers. There were an insane amount of hunters out today though. One more try in the morning and I'll be headed home.
