Would really like this guy to make it and show back up next summer in velvet. I know the angles are not great, but any suggestions on age would be greatly appreciated.

looks 3.5 to me; also possibility he is a 4.5 that has lost a ton of weight if your 1st rut is mid Nov. If you live in Alabama and 1st rut is just starting, I'd def go with 3.5

Yes, new as in we haven't had him on camera before.

We run cams pretty much year round, so when a new buck shows up it's usually pretty easy to identify.

I made my assessment before I read any of the posts - didn't want to be influenced.

I'm going with 3.5. Body size, rack width, and 10 points are more than I would expect on a 2,5 yr old. But the mass isn't there for a 4.5. IMHO.
Either way, I think he has good potential for next year. But, on the public land where I hunt, I'd have shot him this year! :)

Although I would generally lean towards 4 1/2 for this buck, the "boxiness" of his face suggests he might even be older.

I'm glad that bsk said older. Because looking at body only it looks at least 4.5 but I would say older. I'm no expert but sure does look old to me.

Also this is a night time photo. Night time photo do not show mass very well. Daytime Photo would show what the rack Mass is.
