I've been wanting to go on a south LA fishing trip for years. I finally committed to a Venice fishing trip targeting Tuna. I'll be going with my step brother and Brother N Law in late March with Paradise Outfitters. I can't wait.

This is a great time!!! I've been a bunch of times and always done well.

I'm a big fan of the real deep water stuff where you catch the Marlin and wahoo as well. The shallow water tuna on the humps eat too many menhaden and taste nasty.

Take lots of pictures to share here!!!

I do a similar trip each year out of Port Fourchon, LA. Overnight trip. About a two hour ride to get to the Continental shelf and 4-5000 feet of water. We fish around big oil rigs. Catching yellowfin and blackfin will wear you out. Coming back in, we'll stop and catch our limit of snapper. Always end up with about 12-1500# of tuna and snapper.

Start doing a lot of arm workouts. I could barely raise a beer after two days of tuna and amberjack down there. Unbelievably fun, and action packed.

Ours is a 24-26 hour trip. We take 24 beers a person x 6. No one gets drunk. It's just not possible. You work way too hard for 24 hours straight. You're physically wasted when you get back.

Paradise is a great outfit. You'll be fishin the east lump. Last year the tuna were thick and multiple 200lbers were caught. Only got to go 1 day last year and hooked a monster but ended up pulling the hook. It's like a parking lot out on the lump fed-April. You'll be amazed how many boats in a 2 mile area. Hope you hook a monster!

What Captain do you use? Also, are there any advantages to fishing out of here as compared to Venice? A group of us do a yearly over nighter out of Orange beach, but looking to change that up this year and head over and try LA. ~Thanks

As far as Venice vs Port Fourchon? I cannot answer that. I've never fished Venice. Our Fourchon trip has always been a catching trip, not a fishing trip. We always bring back a ton of fish.

I'm sure Venice is just as good.
