My oldest daughter just turned 10 and has been hunting with me the past few years. We have been blessed to see deer and turkey and had some close calls but haven't been able to kill anything yet. This morning the birds were really quiet but we were able to spot them and move locations a couple times. They were very cautious with the high winds but she was very patient. Eventually a lone tom worked close enough. He was getting ready to head back away from us but stood there with his head up long enough for her to get the sight from her .410 on him. I am super proud of her and she is over the moon.

Great smile, great bird.
Got a question.
I know the picture proves that a .410 kills turkeys but what's the effective range?
Up here in Yankee Hell, 20 gauge is the minimum.
I'd love to take a turkey with my .410 SXS.

Beautiful little girl, and great pic. Love to see the girls hunting! (In my experience girls are better hunters than boys.. they are more conscientious about making a good shot and tend to have more respect for the animal than boys). And when it comes to turkey hunting, they can often sit still longer than boys!
