Rode my e-bike in on the WMA this morning before sunrise. Parked it and started walking. Heard a gobble about 300 yards away. Got within 150 yards of him, called, and he answered. About 5 minutes later, he flew over me and hit the ground gobbling. From the sound of it, he was checking out my bike.
I closed the distance to about 150 yards, sat down and called. He came up the hill and right down the trail I walked in on. 18lbs, 9-1/2" beard, 1-1/4" spurs. Down by 7:25 am. Weighed, measured, and checked in by 7:34!
The TWRA mag had a turkey hunting article that said to be successful, you had to have a plan. I always follow Plan A: Walk in the woods, and shoot a turkey!!
