They were giving rain early this morning and then quitting by 8 or 9 so I was going to wait till the rain was over. I set my alarm for an hour later and of course it wasn't raining so I hurried and got to the farm. Started walking to my listening spot and heard one gobble about 150 yards away already on the ground. I hurriedly set up and made a few soft yelps but didn't get no response. After a few minutes he gobbled again closer so I waited a few minutes and yelped and purred. When he gobbled again he was a lot closer so I just quit calling. When he gobbled again he had moved all the way around to my left almost behind me. I repositioned and made a few purrs and in a few minutes three red heads popped up over a rise and a I thought crap jakes but when they came on up they were all long beards. When the middle one stopped and raised his head I made the shot. 3/4 spurs, 11 inch beard 18 lb.
