Back to the MS marsh for the first time in a little over a month... water temps 14deg cooler than last trip (58 deg today) VERY low tide, so we focused on deeper holes (6 to 10ft) in the bayous... after a few spots, we found them. 1/4 oz jigheads with Matrix shad in Magneto and Pink Champagne colors, with the hits as the bait fell or sometimes popping it off the bottom.

Fished for about 4 hours total and put 2 reds (best 23in), 2 flounder (best 17.5in), and 4 specks (best 16.5in). Released another 3 short reds and about 25 short trout. Also caught a 2lb largemouth bass!

Unfortunately, I lost a doormat flounder that was prob 20in, and had a big speck (21 to 22in) on forever, with my buddy missing him with the net and eventually the hook pulling out at the second attempt. No other boats around the entire trip, but a lot of the main bayous were only 14 to 16in deep, so that kept many away. In fact it was so shallow we hit a submerged derelict crab trap in the middle of one bayou. Only going 5 to 6 mph, so no damage to the motor.

Big fish fry later tonight!
