Thanks. I was leaning that way, primarily because of the time. I figured most of the "domestics" that live in my area would have been snoozing.
Just a little surprised because (a) it seems big, and (b) it's just about 40 yards from the house. I wish he'd come by when I was on the deck with the rifle.

Coyotes have become very bold in many places, they are definitely not afraid of being near homes especially if they can find food near those homes.

It actually could easily be either a dog or a coyote.
I lean towards coyote,
but this is much like posting a single half-picture of a deer and asking how old is it.
