Been out of town all week and got back to my lease at 10:30 last night. Woke up to storms at 2:00 am and then the alarm at 4:50. Rain had stopped and I just knew the birds would hammer this morning but apparently they were blown out of the county as I only heard one distant gobble and wasn't sure which direction. About 9:00 I had made my way back to the car only to flush 2 hens that were standing right behind it. I went back to camp and had one last place to check out before leaving. Got setup and hadn't made a call when I heard a hen off the side of the hill and I couldn't tell if it was an alarm putt or cluck. I then heard wings and thought something spooked her and she flew up. A minute or so later I see a coyote come from there into the field. I was sitting about 50 yards off the field so I lip squeaked and she came to the edge of the woods and started sniffing around a bush. As she started to go away I did it again and she started straight at me on a string. She stopped about 20 yards away and I let her have a face full of 20ga TSS #9's. First thing I've killed with this gun.
