Very common at this time of year. To start antlergenesis, a buck's body produces a surge of testosterone. That surge of testosterone gets the antler growth started but it also causes bucks to start acting rutty again. I can always tell when a new year's antler growth is starting on a property by watching for scrapes to open up in April.and at our place in Wayne CO, grandson & I found 3 fresh scrapes while turkey hunting this weekend. All were under licking braches too.
