Went fishing Friday and Saturday. I didn't do all that great Friday. Just never found a school to sit on top of. Saturday was a different day and different results. I found some fish on the graph but they were largemouth but I got one of them to talk and tell me where the white bass were lurking. And then it was game on. My clicker said 109!! I usually only catch these things in the late summer jumps but I swear...catching them like this is just as fun.

Nice. Do u keep them things? Are they good to eat? O sometimes catch them crappie fishing, but always throw them back. They do pull hard though
I don't keep them. I just like catching fish. In this case...most people would have been annoyed at the weekend waves and boat traffic. But I used it to help me fish. In the pic...do you see the rods in the rod holders? I'm not trolling. Instead...those fish are suspended up off the bottom. Each rod had my lures on them, about 4 handle cranks up after it hits bottom...then I just put em in the rod holders and fish with another rod in my hands. The wave action causes the bait to go up and down, and those white bass can't stand it. There were multi times I had fish on 3 rods at once. It's fun sitting on a school like that but...they are notorious for moving rapidly. Instead of here today and gone tomorrow...they can be here for an hour, and 5 miles away the next hour.

They are delicious in my opinion. I've got a couple of friends that prefer them to crappie.

I really can't tell much of a difference.
Ive always wondered if they were edible. I heard mix reviews. Sometimes whT i think are crappie turn out to be white bass. It seens if they are hitting, the crappie let em have the bait. On 2 pound test or even 4, they can give you a fight!

I've tried eating them on a number of occasions. They are okay but not really that great. Sort of fishy tasting in my opinion. The best way was breaded fillets on a hamburger bun with tartar sauce and lettuce.

I had always heard they were fishy if you didnt trim them right. Im pretty spoiled on crappie, bluegill, rock bass and spotted bass. I certainly dont target them but they are fun to reel in, especially when crappie are on a diet.

Any over a pound and a half, I trim the bloodline out. I've cooked them with crappie filets and nobody knows the difference

I have fileted them, cut the bloodline out, soaked them in water overnight, and they were good. More fishy tasting than crappie, but I like fish so it didn't bother me. I have buddies that say they can't tell the difference. I catch enough crappie and bream that's all I eat now, but white bass are a blast to catch.

Looks like the White bass catching is going good for a lot of people. I posted this same message on the Watts Bar Facebook fishing page and several others are catching them at the same rate. They said they caught some on topwater in the jumps but the ones I'm catching are still deep and not breaking the surface. I thought catching 2 and 3 at a time on the same rod would be fun. It was the opposite...just felt like dead weight.
