I've never seen a young buck do this but somewhat often see it with old experienced bucks. Long way from rut but there he is hitting a scrape in front of a doe with new fawn, then approaching her for a sniff. Dollars to donuts I can count back to conception, and he'll be here again same time this season to breed her. He now knows where she lives and when she'll be in estrus, and already introduced himself to stake claim. And for a few days I'll know exactly where to hunt him!

Yeah, he's going to be a good one!

I generally don't run cams in summer, but I just put 4 up over my largest food plots because they seem to be getting hit hard. Want to see who it is.

The longer I do it the more I find reason to do it. I don't run them at every location I run fall cams, but there are a few spots I run them year round.

This fawn showed up a couple days ago. Counting back 201 days lands at November 24th. I'll have to look back at that time frame but I'm curious if I got pics of this buck around that time in that same area.

edit: Sure enough on November 23rd there was a big 8pt in that exact spot walking right in front of the cell cam that caught the picture this morning. Caught him on another camera a few minutes later that shows his brows and they seem to have the same shape as the buck from this year. I'd guess same buck. And the year before a younger buck with very similar rack features 150yds away on the ridge trail November 24th. It's impossible to say for sure but I'm guessing a very good chance same buck. The crooked right G2 is kind of a dead giveaway. I think this year he'll be big enough to hunt!!! Man I love cameras
