Rainy Lake

Got home late Saturday night. Another awesome week. Even though the overall average weight was down, I still caught approximately 200 smallmouth from 4 to 4-3/4 lbs each. Also, the walleye in Rainy are almost pest. I don't try to catch them, no trolling, no live bait. they are in 2 to 6 feet of water with the smallmouth and I still catch so many walleye it becomes annoying, but I do love eating walleye fillets and the cheek meat. I eat walleye every day I am there.

So many boats. and great walleye.

I have seen the mermaid several times. Not this trip. Tom said that it had broke to some extent recently and also there are a couple of them on Rainy.

Caught one giant smallmouth, a record for me.

And Rainy lake is overcrowded, with fish, eagles, pelicans, loons, some awesome cabins, etc. boats and people, rarely see much of anyone. Actually I stayed at Camp Narrows, Tom Pearson owns it, great guy and there several other groups fishing. Other than seeing them in the morning and when I came in at about 9:30 to 10 pm, I never saw them one time on the lake. Rainy is a fairly large lake.

Out of all my hobbies, hunting, fishing, playing golf, fishing in Canada in the summer is my favorite thing to do and my favorite place on the planet. It is jus the best. Even better than when I went to the Amazon and fished for peacock bass. My dad first took me when I was 13 and we went many, many times and I for sure missed him and miss my brother when he doesn't go. He hasn't been able to go for a couple years. He is a Yamaha Service Tech to the Bassmaster Elite and travels for his job so he is gone in July a lot.
