After last night's rankings, there is a very loud protest coming from several SEC teams, and rightfully so.

Whichever loses between GA-TN is probably out.

If Ole Miss gets to the SEC champ game and loses, they are probably out.

Ditto for Bama.

Ditto TX, esp if they lose to A&M.

The new format was suppose to quieten the noise around the selection process, but it has only made it worse.

This is only a 2 yr agreement, and if the SEC feels slighted, they will probably blow it up and demand something else after 2025. One thing that they need to do is abolish the SEC champ game, as it can only punish the loser.

They have already been talk of a 16 team playoff starting in 2026.

I think they are heading in that direction. Do away with the 6 win bowl games No one cares about. 8 wins gets you a bowl. 16 team playoff.

Let's go back to the days of the bowl games and their conference tie ins. Much better games and nobody cared about who the writers picked as #1.

I don't get BYU and Indiana jumping TN when all won…. It seems inconsistent.

Only thought I had is that, like you- it positions TN to be out if they lose to GA, and puts GA in.

I don't know how Georgia is out and Bama is in. Bama won head to head but Georgia has better quality losses.

I no longer have any interest in any bowl games outside of the playoffs. Too many players opt out and some games wind up being meaningless.

Regardless whether you have a 4, 12, 16, or 20 team playoff... someone is going to feel they got left out. I don't agree with expanding it beyond 12.

If it was expanded to 16, that would currently put Kansas State in. Kansas State's biggest wins were #20 Arizona and #20 Oklahoma State. Arizona has now lost 6 games. They weren't a #20 team. Oklahoma State has lost 7 games. They're even worse. Kansas State then lost to Houston (a team that is 4-5).

A team like that has no business in the playoffs, in my opinion.

True, but your also gpnna have multiple 10-2 SEC teams left out.

I think they play off the upcoming games. Putting Georgia on the outside allows them to knock out UT if they lose or keep out a solid GA team.

Take the team names off of your post above for just a second. The statement you just said is exactly what the lower tier teams have been hoping for all these years. A chance to get in there and have a shot of winning the NC when they are not worthy of it. So now you have some teams floating their names around in the top 12 that "think" they will will be in the top 12 come time. And now what you are suggesting is that maybe there will be a bottom feeder come in and disrupt that. Exactly what I said I did not like about this 12 Team BS when they proposed it.

I think the Best solution would be to go to a Expanded 6 Team format exactly the way it was before where the committee evaluates the teams and sends out invites. IDK 6 teams feels about right. So many years you had a 5th team that was right there with two loses that didn't make the cut that probably should have been in there. If you move it to 6 teams then you are giving that little extra room for a team that might be a little weaker but still has a legit shot at it.

Most of these on the commitee dont even watch the games I bet.Indiana has played a very weak schedule and not beaten anyone.Texas,I have a hard time believing they should be on the #3 spot when their best win was Vanderbilt! At least Tennessee has a quality win against Bama!It is evident they are gonna put Tennessee out if they lose to Georiga and probably put Georiga in!!I hate to be for Ohio St but I hope they beat Indiana badly to get them out!

Hell I saw someone come up with some of yalls checkerboard math games that showed where LSWHO with 3 losses could still make the 12 Team Playoffs. So there is that.

I would love to see some of these "top tier" teams come to the SEC PRIOR to the playoffs. At least they could have a L to go with their easy W's!!!! Or on the other hand it could prover they are worthy!! I'm ok with either.
