I am shooting a compound at around 55 lbs and noticed today that the arrows drop around 1.5 feet between 20 and 30 yards. I have it sighted on the dot at 20 yards. Only a single pin in the sight. But I am wondering if it's the lower draw weight that would make the arrows drop so much between 20 and 30? I won't shoot any deer past 20 but might practice some more at 30 just so I have more confidence in shooting various distances.... The arrows are carbon express, nothing fancy, but not heavy so I don't think arrow weight is the issue.... any thoughts?

That is alot of drop for the difference in yardage. What kind of grouping are you gettingcould it be you? If it is not you then your arrows are very heavy, or the bow is on the slow side or it is a combination of both.

wow man that is a very very big drop, i think mine has a 2" drop from 20 to 30 and only a 4-6" drop from 20-40

a foot and a half is A LOT at that range. What arrows and heads are you shooting as well as length?

carbon express 30" arrows and field points I forgot the size point but they are normal size. I'll have to shoot again and get a more accurate measurement of the drop

depends on the make and model of the bow and your arrow, if your shooting a slower bow at 55 lbs i can see having that much drop, i know i had that much back in the day with the slower bows

My kids were out shooting there old bear youth set at 40 with my old arrows and they didnt have that much drop i checked after we talked yesterday

My guess it the arrow and head. No way you should get anywhere near that much drop at 20-30. I'm getting 1.25 drop between 20-30. If you are shooting thebow you got from me, at 62 pounds the drop was about two inches so, no way it should be that at 55. Something ain Kosher.

it's your old champion bow I got at the vous a couple years ago. I tuned down the draw weight just a bit. bottoms out my 50 lb digital fish scale at 53 lbs, so I am guessing it pulls around 55 lb and the arrows aren't heavy nor are the points, I can go look at the packaging and tell you the size of the points, they are just small field points. Maybe cheaper arrows don't fly as fast?

Put a bow square on the rest and make sure your nock point or string loop hasn't slipped upwards on the string , or the rest may have moved down .

+1 something could be out of tune or moved causing that arrow to nose dive on you. Either that or it could be operator related!! :)

Usuing a fish scale is a waste of time. Take it to a bow shop and get it tuned and set up at 55#. Messing around with guessing and fish scales will get it all messed up. At 62 pounds, that bow hummed so, something is out of kilter.

X2, also if your planning on leaving it set at 55# match your arrows to the draw weight. And have the arrow length cut to your draw length. My daughters bow set at 42# only has a 5" drop between 20 to 30 yards. But she is shooting 5.5 gpi arrows with 55 grain tips matched to her draw weight.

Maybe your peep sight is too low? This would cause angling issues. Mine was too high and it appeared like I was getting no drop between 20 and 40 yards.

I just cjecked my notebook. That bow was sighted in to shoot dead on 25. That put it 1" high at 20; 1.5" low at 30 and 4" low at 35. I shot 2216's with a 125 head. I used only one sight pin and no peep or release.

I believe you have it terribly out of tune among other things.

Now these numbers sound reasonable! If that bow is 60 to 70 lbs and he's backed it out to less than that its got to be terribly inefficient
