1/8" Tru Peep

That's a bit smaller than most folks use for hunting. It is doable if you have good vision and shoot with both eyes open. Try it in low light and see how it works for you.

Well that is good that I have brought over my rifle shooting to archery. I always shoot anything with both eyes open. My father scored expert in the army in 1945 and taught me to shoot from a young age. He had me shoot with both eyes open. I will try it in low light. My Black Gold Flashpoint has ridicuously bright pins in any light.

doesn't matter how bright the pins are if there is not enough light to see throught the peep. I'm saying that from experiance. I used to guage how long I sat in stand by if I could see my pin or not. Well, one time i could still see my pin and I had a doe come right under my stand at dark. drew on the doe and couldn't see. I had to let down and let her walk.

I have used one for several years. Most of the time when I can't see through it it is usually to dark...for me. I currently went to one a tad bigger. You can also drill yours out if you want.

I have alway tore them up trying to drill holes in them. If it is a plastic peep, get a drill bit the size that you want. Heat the dull end with a lighter and melt it to open the hole up. The nice lady at EWA gave me that tip. It's a good one.

I used a 1/8 that came on my bow and switched to a 1/4 peep.
I was more accurate with the 1/8 but am glad I switched because it would have cost me a doe this past season!
1/4 inch lets in a ton of light!!!

Not with it on the string. If you want to drill it take it out of the string. Then the hole will be shiny. You will need to paint it with a flat black paint.

A lot of trouble that could be avoided by buying a new peep. Just swap them. If you want a smaller peep for tournaments and a larger peep for hunting just keep two. Swap them out before and after the season. You will need to reset them after the swap but that shouldn't take that much effort if you mark their location and go back to the same place each time.

Orrrrr.... You could buy a Specialty Super Peep. This is a metal peep. Looks similar to the Tru-Peep. But the peep hole is drilled and tapped. You can buy different aperatures of differing hole sizes to screw into the housing. I hunt with just the housing no aperature at all and use one of the smaller aperatures for 3-D. You can also buy a clarifier lens for this peep that works to sharpen the image in a glass scope.

No more that a peep costs there's no way I would fool with drilling one out. Just buy a new size.

Agreed. If you want to shoot 3D with a smaller peep do it then switch before hunting season.
