Yesterday morning I bet I heard somewhere between 20 and 30 birds gobbling, some of which gobbled 100 times or better. I sat up on one gobbled nonstop for the first hour until the rain started then I never heard another peep out of him or any other. I did not feel like getting wet so I went home thinking it would stop around midday but it never did here.
This morning was no different, except no rain. Birds gobbling every direction. I decided which one to go to and as luck would have it, it was the right decision. I made one little series of yelps and he pitched off the limb and walked right up to me. He would have been in my lap but I decided to shoot him at 15 yards. He gobbled in my face just before I shot. It is a rush when they gobble that close. Done by 6:30. 21 lb, 1" spurs, 9.5 beard
