12 gauge reloading

I have had 3 progressives, the worst i had and still have is the Hornady 366.. For the money the mec 9000 cant be beat.. I loaded probably 6-7 thousand shells last year and not a single hiccup to amount to anything.. I have mine set up with a mec automate.. insert the shell the wad and push 2 buttons.. it does the rest..

Mec Grabber or 9000. I could not even begin to guess how many shells I loaded on my Dad's Grabber when I was a teenager.

I've got to agree on the 9000. I've loaded thousands of shells with it. MEC's support is excellent too if you run into any problems. I'm gonna get a 20 gauge 9000g as soon as i can make myself spend the money!

For the difference in reloading the 12 or 20 vs buying factory, its not worth it at present time, imo. Shop around and you can find factory 12's comparible to reload prices.....especially if you figure in your time + start-up. 28's and 410's are whole nother story though!

yeah, the startup costs are pretty dang high. my dad had a 600 something or other when i was younger. but he sold it after a while. of all the junk he keeps around, he sells the one thing id actually use!

Mec 9000g is best for the money... I have run about 75000 through mine (maybe more) ... And I bought it used. I've had to buy a few replacement parts... But very happy with the unit.

a little way down this thread is a good breakdown of what it can actually cost to reload 12 guage game/trap loads vs what the cheapest on the market shells cost at places like walmart.

I use to buy 7.5's by the case at BPS on the Blue Light sales for like 2 dollars a box. Been several years since I've seen prices like that. $4.15 a box beats anything I've been able to find hands down and the quality is a lot better.

looks like ill just be buying the cheap stuff. whats yalls take on reloading .45s? its gotta be cheaper than paying out the nose for those rounds!
