Didnt get to hunt this weekend due to some training. Thought I wouldnt get to go til Wednesday but due to the storm my labs for this evening were cancelled. So got out of class at 0900 and headed for the nearest public ground. Spotted a gobbler at the back of a big field so figured I would slip around behind him and try to call him in. I hadnt ever been on that section before and when I got behind him there was another big field there. I saw a flock of turkeys there, used a woodline for some cover, snuck around the other side of them and set up. I yelped one time and just set down. I was thinking I may have spooked them so I wasnt to hopeful but after about 10 minutes, I spotted a gobbler head about 15 yards away through some thick stuff. Then just let him walk into the gun barrel. At the shot, he went down and 3 jakes and another LB rushed in and started flogging him. Pretty exciting hunt for only about a 20-30 minute hunt. Also got checked by the Jackson Co. warden on the way out, real nice guy. Its so nice to hunt places like this with quite a few gobblers compared to what Im used to. Dont have much of a picture, no one to take any when Im here at school and not at home.
