I'm going to do my first time stalk hunting tomorrow. Figured I need to learn some new skills in my hunting styles. I know its supposed to rain a bit but what are some good tips when stalking deer? I know the area pretty well, but not sure if I should follow deer tracks/sign directly or stay "off trail" to avoid any scent issues. What are your experiences?

Just ease through the woods, don't worry about trying to follow any sign.

Keep the wind in your face or to either side of you and remember only move as far at a time as you have to in order to see more area in front of you.
This might be ten steps or it might be ONE.

Number one and above all........... SLOW DOWN.

When you think you are going slow enough, cut your speed in half.

Good luck.

Well I had a wet day, but my frog suit kept me pretty dry. I spotted a doe 300 yards roughly and watched her a bit. She bedded down and I decided to see if I could get close for a shot. About 20 minutes went by and I was about 80-100 yards away. The rain started coming down pretty hard but she didn't move. I lost sight of her but then she popped her head up and looked my way. At first I thought I was safe then she slowly got up, stared at me while I was frozen in place then she took off. I decided to call it a day and go home and make deer tacos! Tomorrow will be a better day in a new location. Will I have deer in the truck? Who knows, but I'l be sure to post it if I do!!!!!
