Since this sub forum is pretty nonsensical at times, figured I would contribute to it.

Who wants a lowered limit? I know Catman doesnt but I would like to see it cut down to 2 birds. Do away with the bearded hen clause too. I would also like to see a archery only season in the spring before the guns start blazing. That way us archery hunters can make it tougher on you gun only guys.

I would also like to have a Setterman only WMA; no dekes, blinds, fanning/reaping, gobbler calls or anything else besides a call, camo and weapon. (Im very serious about this one)

*Hopefully this thread will not make Tndeer members quit because they dont agree with what someone else says.

I would be fine with a Setterman only season period. Maybe we could up the limit to 6 then [emoji6]

I'd like a 3 bird limit rather then 2, mainly for selfish reasons because most years I'd be done by now. I would like to see a one jake rule, and eliminate the bearded hen limit.

I'm all for making decoys illegal, as well as fanning.

The only thing on public land I would love is walk in only areas and lots of them. I'm over the lazy four wheeler crowd.

I agree, that would be really nice. Walk in only areas that are LARGE enough to wonder around in for a full day.

I'd like to see a .22 rimfire season.

I know SD and WY allow rifles for turkeys. Kinda weird really, they just spot them a mile away and get within a couple hundred yards and pop em. They laugh at us for wearing camo, using calls and dekes.

and make roost shooting illegal!

Happened to me last weekend. Pretty sure it was before shooting light, therefore already illegal. But it ruined the morning for sure. Wish I knew who did it, we would have a come to Jesus talk.

I'm having issues killing just 1 bird this year, so the limit has no real effect on me right now.

I personally wouldn't want the fall season to go away, but would like to see it at 1 bird statewide with counties like Lawrence being closed.

I'd vote for 3 bird limit as I'm starting to notice a decline in turkey numbers in areas of West TN. I'm also for walk-in only areas an no hens killed ever.

Be careful having a come to Jesus talk with an armed man you might get your ticket punched early.

Pretty sure? Mighty bold statement for "pretty sure". Birds were on the ground where I was VERY early this morning as they were last week at same location, so it could have been legal and not even been a roost shooting.

261 bearded hens were killed last year. I bet that many were ran by farm machinery last year. Minimal impact.

Last year, 1100 of estimated 70-80,000 hunters killed 4 birds, and only 2000 killed three. Again, very marginal impact.

Archery only? There are already some public places that are archery only. Go there or buy your own property and do it however you want.

A WMA your own way? That's laughable. The purpose of the state-owned WMAs is to provide the greatest opportunity that would appeal to the most hunters. Afterall, that's where the funds originated for purchase of said WMA.

Lastly, there are WMAs that have walk-in only areas, and you could spend the day without ever seeing or hearing another person. But, you have to look to find them ;) !

Hope I didn't offend anyone :D !

It was around the 5:40am mark, few mins before few mins after. Not sure how you would assume "pretty sure" as being bold. Where Im from thats about as close to giving them the benefit of the doubt. I have turkey hunted a few times, never once had them pitch down in complete darkness.

Whats up with everyone defending people who breach ethics code lately?

I guess they could lower the limit so the trophy hunters could have a better chance at a mature bird and maybe even a multiple bearded bird but since there is no biologic data to support it we should go ahead and lower the limit so the trophy hunters will quit cryin about not seeing mature birds. After this morning I no longer care. I hope tn raises the dang limits so high people kill everything out just like what has happened in those southern counties. I am now in favor for no limit hunting and year round hunting for any game. Open season in tn!!

2 week season with one bird limit and must use heavier than lead shot that patterns no less than 200 in 10 at 40 and no birds may be stalked, ambushed, deer hunted or shot at over 40 yards. If you call to a gobbler and a hen comes in, that's a ticket for even thinking about shooting a hen. Jail time for flushing one off the nest. Our population is suffering so severely statewide that there should only be allowed ATV hunters because they can't kill any turkeys.

KY has a 2 bird limit and their season is 1/2 as long as ours, we can go ahead and mirror KY deer and turkey seasons and both states will be trophy destinations of the South[emoji12]
