Headed out to my brothers place in Wilson Co. this AM. was gonna take my nephew but the alarm didn't go off or something so I headed out on my own. I heard a lot of tree yelping, but no gobbling. finally I did hear one gobble and then heard a hen fly down cackle. I waited and waited and finally the hens started filtering in and then like 4-5 jakes. I didn't want one of those plus they were 60 yds out. I noticed they went down to the lower horse pasture, so i slipped around and got in front of them. there was 4 horses in the pasture so I had to be mindful of them, but I got around them, then I noticed, that there are 2 long beards that showed up out of nowhere. One was strutting around, but was 4-5 feet from the horses. Finally the horses headed out and the birds (all of them) headed my way. the hens and the jakes were probably 20 feet from me and the tom was 35 yds. I gave him the ole Mag Blend trachea chop and he went down like a bag of hammers.
