I was attending a funeral last week and while the Preacher was talking there was a gobbler hammering down behind the cemetery the whole time. I have permission to hunt that property so I knew it was game on this week. I spotted them crossing from the cow pasture to a hayfield. 4 long beards, 1 jake and 5 hens. I moved around them and was in front of them on the top of a ridge. The gobblers got off from the hens a little so I spooked the hens off. I hit the slate call a few times and they came right in. 40 yard shot 21 pounds 8 3/4 beard 1 1/16 and 1 spurs

Now I want to buy a burial plot in a cemetery near turkey woods. Then, if I manage to die in the spring, maybe my son can find a bird during the service. It would have been hard for me to not go after him while they were still filling in the hole last week.

I had a hard time paying attention to the preacher. If it weren't for family and friends getting together after the funeral I would have been on that gobbler like a chicken on a June bug!
