Second bird for year this am at 7:15. Saw him strutting in a food plot yesterday and decided to go there this am and sit there. Well i got there at 10 til 6 and not a peep except one gobbling way off. I couldnt stand it and got up to go after that one and walked abot 50 yards and this bird gobbled once. He was about 200 yards from me so i just sat down. At that instant two birds flew down and i thought they had seen me when they popped out at the end of the food plot and i soft called to them and they broke into strut and slowly started walking to me. In 30 mins they had cut distance to 100 yards when 6 hens came out where they did. One bird gobbled once and the hens ran too them. They bred 2 at that instant. I had never seen that. When they finished i called a little and they started to me again. About this time i heard pssst vroom to me right and the two in the food plot came closer. I couldnt stand it anymore and shot the first one that came in the clear. 16lbs - 10 inch beard - 1 1/8 spurs. I will gladly eat crow and say i guess there are more gobblers on my lease than i thought. Not like it was 10 years ago but better than last 3 years. Probably one the best hunts in my life. I was tore up.
