Went into the garage tonight to shoot this evening and am getting ready for 2011-2012 season. Here are some goals for the next nine months:

1) Fitness...I shoot better when I am in good cadio shape. Also, I want to be in better shape for the heat in the early season.

2) Practice...I shot a lot 2010 from ground level but I need to get up in the climber and shoot more 2011.

3) Scouting...I want to have a better knowledge of what the deer are doing on a select property.

4) Gear...I need to add a couple of tools to the inventory. I plan on getting game cameras and a game cart to haul deer out of the woods. I have a deer drag but having some wheels would help, especially if I need to go futher into the woods.

Good luck everyone in the off season and hopefully we can have a great season this year!

Sound good UTGrad I share 2 of your goals.

1) Fitness... I need to loose some weight and get in alot better cardio I believe I'll be able to enjoy time afield if I can achieve this one.

2) Scout with 20yd. goal. In my mind that means scouting not to just see deer but kill them with a bow. The reason is simple each year I see a lot of deer in archery season and kill deer with a muzzleloader.

Best time to scout is between the end of deer season and before greenup . I keep in shape by lifting weights at the gym along with cardio . Been working out for about 32 years now . It's a good way to keep the muscles toned for shooting and the cardio really helps when climbing ridges and carrying a climber on my back.
I shoot year round and experiment with equipment changes during the off season. I'm trying out a couple new releases this year . I'm switching to a T-handle thumb release for hunting and target .

All sounds good. I need to shoot more out of the stand before the season. My deer cart was one of the best presents my wife ever gave me. Bet I have hauled out 50 deer with it . Even wore out the rubber wheels and had to get new ones. As far as not getting it balanced I know with mine you need the weight (tail end) closer to your hands.

I sold my dxt for top dollar, don't know what I'm gonna buy next, but it will for sure be another Mathews just like my last 6 bows!

I'll sit on the couch till weather warms up then start hiking some with the wife and oldest son. I'm not much of a gym/weights person anymore and really don't care about jogging. I feel like carrying a daypack and going up and down hills does me pretty good. Also, depending on the course, I'll carry my bag while playing golf, be it 9 holes or 18. I use to carry it playing Monkey Bell, but now at 40, I use a pull cart.

My goal this year is to not spend any unnecessary $$! Over the past couple of years and have thrown myself and my bank account into bowhunting. I love my General and he only change I'm gonna make is lowering my poundage. I'm focusing on k.e. this year not speed. Smooth draw and being able to hold it for 5 minutes I think, is key.
