Well it has taken awhile to finally get around to it. I will have to say this past season has probably been the worst of my life.
However nothing to do with the actual hunting. Up until December I had a great season going. Covid hit me real hard and then after 28 days in hospital I lost my mother to covid, I took care of her for the last 4 years. I did manage a last evening hunt with @mikebomb1 hunting in Giles county on the doe only days....... thanks to @biglefty20
I wound up with 17. More importantly I killed my best buck ever with a compound bow during the velvet hunt in Aug.
I killed a small 9 point in houston county... first buck in 7 years since leasing the property. 2 nice 4 pointers (bonus bucks) and one of them with Rugers brother in laws 1964 rem 742 30/06.
I put @hunter drew on a very nice houston county buck ..... well i just put him in my tree he did the rest.
I got to spend some quality time with chris @gasman hunting in west tn.
Didn't get the chance to hunt KY with @rem270 but we will next year.
My hunting the counties went better than and worse than expected. I try to do a lot in december and that just did not pan out. I had to cancel a trip to Lake county with a member due to covid and that stunk to high heaven. Missed out on chances in rutherford and cannon county and hunting some public land in crockett. I earned a cwd buck tag that i was hoping to use in crockett county. The plan was to knock out the only 3 counties i have left west of nashville; Lake Dyer and crockett, well you have to hunt there to check them off.
However the positive I did knock out county 51,52, and 53. Putnam Jackson and Overton.
Had a great hunt in Jackson and putnam counties with @rrptdp and in overton with @dogmatik
Cant wait till next season.
I will certainly miss coming home and mom asking me if I "caught" any
