21" beard (with pics)

It's not photoshopped, but I find it almost impossible to believe. It would not be uncommon for some strands of beard to be severed by shot, and pulled through to the point of giving an illusion of a 21" beard. I am not saying the hunter is lying either, because I had one years ago that had that happen, and it was difficult to tell that the strand had been severed until I really pulled on it to make sure, and found it was actually loose strands. The beard measured 10" for the record.

Anything is possible, but there is a reason there has only been one offically measured beard around that length.

The NWTF recoerds are a joke. You can enter anything you want as long as they get thier money.
Explain this statement more. Are you saying the entries are not validated in person by a certified person or what?

that is exactly true. Read thier entry guide lines. You have to have a witness (any witness) and they have to buy a membership to be a valid witness. You have to submit a picture. They want money not valid entries.

I just read it for myself; pretty darn pitiful, just as you described. I am not very impressed with the validity of any NWTF entry, or any other record for that matter, that imposes such lame criteria as this.

You are not alone with that opinion. I hear it all too often these days, many times from those who once were heavily involved with NWTF, the fundraising banquets and other events back in the late 90s and such. They tell me it is all about the money these days, and not so much about the turkeys as it once was. That is about as much as I know about the NWTF.

It is all about the money and they do basically nothing for the turkeys anymore. Years ago they were a great organization, but like so many of these "conservation" groups the only thing they care to conserve after a point is a dollar.
