.223 for deer in Tn?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone on here knows if the state of Tn allows .223 for deer. Or if they have a minimum caliber requirement? I have been unsuccessful in finding anything online.

I wasn't sure that a 204 was legal. But I do know 223, 22 hornet and the like are good to go

As above 223 is legal and im sure the big caliber guys are gonna tell you it isn't enough! My daughter has killed one with it my cousin has killed several all bang flops except the one my daughter killed but he didn't go 30 yrds.

Lots of 223/5.56 ammo is FMJ (full metal jacket), make sure what you use for hunting in TN is NOT.

All center fires are legal in TN. I'm not a 223 fan for deer hunting but I have a friend that kills 2 or 3 a year with his 223. He uses hand loaded ballistic tips. Most of his shots are high shoulder and no track tracking. My hesitation with the 223 is around shots that are not so well placed.

They are legal to use and I have killed a few deer with my 223. After shooting a doe with one of the Hornady rounds and not getting a blood trail I started researching better ammo and ended up shooting the Federal Fusions with a lot better results.

Now that my daughter is hunting a little bit I built a 350 Legend in AR platform for her to use. Didn't get an opportunity to shoot one with it yet but I feel alot better about her using this caliber over the 223.

True with many things, if you ask around you can include cameras, 00B, Crossbows, modern BP rifles etc., etc. I don't recommend the .223, but I don't feel it's unethical.
