Going to start reloading this caliber.

first loads will be new win brass, cci primers with IMR 4831 (because I have some already). wanting to shoot a 130 grain. does anyone have a 130 grain bullet preference or, just load recipe in general they are willing to share?

Thank you,

Mike

I use 140gr bullets, which sacrifice very little in the way of velocity but have better BC and pack more of a punch (more than is needed for whitetail deer), so this may not help you out. I used to use both flavors of 4831, but have since switched to IMR4350, RL19, and RL17. 4831 always performed best for me when loaded to the max, but you obviously need to work up to that with caution. 4831 is one of the "old standby" powders that just plain works well in the .270, even though it may not give you the absolute topend velocity. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a good load with this powder.

Thank you for the info fellas.

EastTnHunter - what type of bullet ie; boattail, sp, spritzer etc. did you find worked the best with 4350? I have a few pounds of that as well.

Thank you Kimberman, I am a huge fan of Sierra GameKing and MatchKing bullets. They are my favorite out of 7mm rem mag.

I load some for my brothers late 70`s Ruger 77 tang safety model,,it shoots best with the 130 Sierra Pro Hunter flat based bullets,,actually use a less than max load of 4064 and get 3000 fps,

you would have to be shooting at least 500 yards to see much on game gains but you can get up to 3200 with 130`s and almost 3000 with 150`s,,

I have a M70 Featherweight in 270 WSM that I wish was a 270 Win,,

i have more 270 loads than you can shake a stick at

i will have to look on my home computer

from memory

130 accubond h4831 sc
140 accubond cant remember what powder
140 hndy interlock boat tail spire point max rl 19

were the best performance

along with the 170 speer round nose but you wont find those bullets i have 176 each even though I dont load for .277 any more

how ever if i was gonna load today for 270 tn whitetail id load a 110 accubond over a max charge of rl 19

My 270 Win load is a 140 gr. AccuBond over 58 gr. (book max) of H4831SC with a Federal GMM large rifle primer in Remington brass. Bullet is seated .015"ish off the lands.

Win. brass
130gr Nosler Ballistic tip
55gr IMR4350

This seems to be an all-time favorite. Work up to it with your load.
