I struck this bird about 7;00, he was gobbling pretty good but I didn't think I could call him from where I could get. So I had to take a chance and get in his back pocket. I slipped around the field where I thought he was. He gobbled some as I got close as I dared. I started soft calling and he would hammer, so I just called a few times and then I could see him coming my way. He came about 20 more yards, and as he stuck his neck out looking for me I shot and he hit the ground. He had 10 1/2in beard and 7/8in spurs. I started making pot calls this spring, and it was nice to kill a bird with a call I made and Tss shell I hand loaded.
