Pics and story to come! 11 this morning is when he hit the dirt! 20 lbs, 9 1/2 in beard, 1 1/4 in spurs!

We spotted a gobbler in full strut up on a ridge and we worked out a plan that I would try to sneak around behind him and setup on a flat. while david would watch him to make sure I wouldn't bump him! So I go walking up the road not looking for other turkeys. When I just about crested up on the flat I saw a turkey jump straight up and then land making a fighting pur. I dropped to my belly and thought oh crap! They already made it out here! So while i'm trying to get a plan together this hen comes over and starts looking at me! Then she starts putting! I thougt well this is gonna blow it! Then I could make out the outline of the strutter through the sage grass! He hadn't folded down! It might not be over yet!
The hen finally went on. Then another longbeard comes over and looks at me! I thought... Do I try to jump up and take a shot before he gets out of range or just wait and maybe things will calm down. I waited and he finally went back behind the grass.I still wasn't sure of the range. I knew it was a pretty long shot though. So I belly cralwed as close as I thought I could get to that grass.
I got up on one knee and slipped a mouth call in. I said as soon as that strutter or that longbeard shows his head again i'm blasting him!
I let out a pur and they hammered! But they wouldn't come back towards me! I let out a few soft clucks and they hammered again! But this time I could tell they were moving away!
I thought... Well it's either jump up and take a shot before they move out of range or this hunt is fixin to be over!
I shouldered the mossberg and slowly started up to where I could see over the grass. I came eye to eye with the strutter at 40 yards! He folded down and stuck his head up! I put the bead on his wattles and sent him a load of Win #6s! I saw his head flop back and then he hit the dirt! YEAH BABY! Awesome! :D
Turns out these were different turkeys than the ones I was trying to get on to start with! David was still watching the other strutter when I shot!
This is the only pic I have at the moment.
