After several rough days of hunting, I went back in about 3PM to give this guy a try. He has been with hens of a morning and not cooperating. I theorized the hens would leave him in the mid day and I would go back and try again. I went back, yelped real loud on a Gooserbat High Standard crystal and he hammered back. I moved in as close as I dared( leaves aren't on that well on the mountain yet) and set up. Yelped twice and he gobbled and was in my lap within 2 minutes literally. Third limbhanger this year, just amazing.

Congrats Steven, you changed your tactics, and that obviously led to your success. Great strategy on your part, and it paid off. Thanks for sharing.

Good turkey. Expecting some good mid to late afternoon hunting here in the next week. Seeing lots of hens in and along the forest roads in "nesting mode". We have come across 3 separate nests with better than 7 eggs. Would not doubt some already have a full clutch and are setting. This second half of season is always some of my best hunting. Now if I can only hit what I am aiming at :)

Congrats that's a pretty bird. Where I hunt their feet are usually covered in cow poop but those mountain birds have clean feet lol

Congratulations!

It's been proven through history that women's a mystery! Popeye

Nice job! Afternoon hunts can be tough but you made it happen. Bad news is you only have one tag left!
